The edge-of-your-seat, heart-in-mouth new Jack Reacher thriller for 2021 - his 25th adventure。 No one's bigger than Jack Reacher。

Jack Reacher gets off the bus in a sleepy no-name town outside Nashville, Tennessee。 He plans to grab a cup of coffee and move right along。

Not going to happen。

The town has been shut down by a cyber attack。 At the centre of it all, whether
he likes it or not, is Rusty Rutherford。 He's an average IT guy, but he knows more than he thinks。

As the bad guys move in on Rusty, Reacher moves in on them 。 。 。

And now Rusty knows he's protected, he's never going to leave the big man's side。

Reacher might just have to stick around and find out what the hell's gone wrong 。 。 。 and then put it right, like only he can。

I was looking for a quick grab from Libby - something I could decide on fast and might even love。 This was a great choice! It was quite an adventure and quite realistic。 I guess starting a series at #25 is okay! And, I have at least 24 others to hear next!

Hmmm。。。。。 not sure about this one。 Hoping that Andrew Child gets better or Lee Child takes the reins back!

I enjoyed this Lee and Andrew Child Jack Reacher novel。 Reacher is, to a considerable degree, quite predictable: very tall, quite husky but not at all fat, very strong, long arms, still traveling exceptionally light, needing hi-test coffee often。 He's a pedantic smart aleck when questioning people to get their goats, and they don't always appreciate his parsing of language。All that said, this thriller involving a Tennessee town's ransomware situation that gums up the town and unfairly tars the m I enjoyed this Lee and Andrew Child Jack Reacher novel。 Reacher is, to a considerable degree, quite predictable: very tall, quite husky but not at all fat, very strong, long arms, still traveling exceptionally light, needing hi-test coffee often。 He's a pedantic smart aleck when questioning people to get their goats, and they don't always appreciate his parsing of language。All that said, this thriller involving a Tennessee town's ransomware situation that gums up the town and unfairly tars the municipal IT specialist was pretty entertaining。 It had a lot of plot twists about the motivations of the baddies and the involvement of police, the FBI, and a variety of other characters。 In books of this genre there always is a fair dollop of improbability and implausibility, but the plot point about possible Russian hacking into elections (appearing in a book that came out in 2020, and which genuine, real-deal involvement in the 2016 and 2020 elections was just validated within the past week) turned out to be very timely。Mr。 Child pere and Mr。 Child fils are a good team, and I will look forward to their next effort。 。。。more

Good read, but the plot was not as tight as it usually is with Lee Child。 Granted he has huge shoes to be filled。 At times hard to follow, it felt scattered。 Not the same succinct, spare prose that so typifies Reacher’s character。

The SentinelLee Child 。This was my first Jack Reacher book (I’m late to the game it seems)。 It’s James Bond on steroids (skill wise, not literally), without the martini or the girls。 Jack Reacher don’t need that。 He just wants to help a poor IT guy who is walking into an ambush right in front of his eyes, in a random town that he hitchhiked to。 All he wanted was some good quality coffee。。Rusty Rutherford is the local IT guy that everybody blames for the local network being offline。 Having warned The SentinelLee Child 。This was my first Jack Reacher book (I’m late to the game it seems)。 It’s James Bond on steroids (skill wise, not literally), without the martini or the girls。 Jack Reacher don’t need that。 He just wants to help a poor IT guy who is walking into an ambush right in front of his eyes, in a random town that he hitchhiked to。 All he wanted was some good quality coffee。。Rusty Rutherford is the local IT guy that everybody blames for the local network being offline。 Having warned his superiors that a ransomware attack could leave the town crippled, he’s frustrated at how everyone blames him, avoid eye contact or even insult him in his face。 After hiding in his flat for a week, he finally ventures outside to get coffee。 But what he got was a hero by the name of Jack Reacher who saw him walking straight into an ambush and prevented it (I mean, it was this poor IT guy against 4 trained ambushers)。。Following this one incident, one event after the other makes everything more complicated and dangerous。 Who are these people and what do they want with Rusty? What on earth got any of this to do with Nazi’s and Russians and spies?。If you love spy books full of twists, this one is for you! The book wasn’t as fast paced as expected to be honest (I have seen Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, but this is the first book I’ve read, so not sure how the other books are), but I still enjoyed reading it。 。。。more

I'v been a real fan, but this is overly formulaic Reacher story。 I had to put it down to move on to my other readings。 I'v been a real fan, but this is overly formulaic Reacher story。 I had to put it down to move on to my other readings。 。。。more

While it had all the elements of a good Jack Reacher book, it did not connect。 Most Reacher books I can hardly put down。 I had trouble keeping this one going。 Not his best work, but I am still a loyal fan。

Jack saves the day, againNot the best Jack Reacher novel, and I’ve read them all。 Was hard to get into, and wasn’t until near the end I got interested in the story。 Bit of a lame ending as well。 Not the best novel at all, but worth 3 stars。

Lee Child seems to have his mojo back with this one。 After the last being a ridiculous kill all body count, this actually has a decent plot, characters and storyline。

Sharon Taylor

You know what’s going to happen but she can’t put it down。Reacher does his normal number on even more people and you still just gotta love him。 I sure wish I had a Jack Reacher in my life, except the toothbrush, grosses me out!

This was my first Jack Reacher book I’ve read, and in some cases a good starting point as it’s written by Lee and his younger brother Andrew。Looking at reviews from previous Reacher instalments the character has changed and in some cases not for the better but as a neutral I loved the character of our protagonist。 I think the pace of the story moves along nicely, or develops and unfolds so naturally Lee and Andrew are gifted writers and I can’t wait to read previous instalments and see what come This was my first Jack Reacher book I’ve read, and in some cases a good starting point as it’s written by Lee and his younger brother Andrew。Looking at reviews from previous Reacher instalments the character has changed and in some cases not for the better but as a neutral I loved the character of our protagonist。 I think the pace of the story moves along nicely, or develops and unfolds so naturally Lee and Andrew are gifted writers and I can’t wait to read previous instalments and see what comes next。 Overall a great book, highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t read a Reacher book。 。。。more

Reacher helps solve a cyber crimeNot your typical Reacher story as he helps he FBI and small town IT guy investigate a ransomware attack in Tennessee 。

This was one of the worst of the Reacher books that I can remember。 While it is difficult to say whether it was due to the addition of Andrew Child as a co-author (writing style seemed the same), the problem to me was the entire plot。 It just doesn't work。Using a high-tech story line, having communications via cell phones, and most importantly- having a plot which presumably has global consequences just doesn't fit the normal Reacher storyline。If this was so important, the FBI (and CIA) would ha This was one of the worst of the Reacher books that I can remember。 While it is difficult to say whether it was due to the addition of Andrew Child as a co-author (writing style seemed the same), the problem to me was the entire plot。 It just doesn't work。Using a high-tech story line, having communications via cell phones, and most importantly- having a plot which presumably has global consequences just doesn't fit the normal Reacher storyline。If this was so important, the FBI (and CIA) would have had countless resources thrown at this, not just 2 agents。 The whole beauty of Reacher stories is that he helps those that are deemed inconsequential to others。 But if this truly has global implications with the Russians, why is their not a full team assigned?Certainly I will give the next one a try, but this was the first of his books I can remember that I couldn't wait for it to end。 。。。more

Hmmm, well I normally love Jack Reacher, he’s my man。。。I did read it but almost gave up on it, it did not feel like Reacher at times, plot seemed to be a bit convoluted, not one I would recommend。

Kerstin

Much better than the last one due to dialled-back fatal violence and for once almost no sex with a “lithe” woman。 but the pace wasn’t quite right。 Super interesting to read about how the brothers worked together to write this one。

An Odd1

Jack saves fired IT manager from kidnap; Rusty, blamed for town systems going down。 Russians bring creepy torturer who chops up reporter, still Rusty stays。 Sentinel is software protection; they chase hardware servers, Jack gets lots of action, even ubiquitous girl。

This book does the same thing as many other Jack Reacher books。 It raises your heart rate while you read it, but ultimately it's a little difficult to say what it's about。 It's a good story and it reflects a lot of what's going on in the world。 This book does the same thing as many other Jack Reacher books。 It raises your heart rate while you read it, but ultimately it's a little difficult to say what it's about。 It's a good story and it reflects a lot of what's going on in the world。 。。。more

I’ve read all the Reacher books and enjoyed them all, until this one。 Did Lee Child write any of this book?! I will be hesitant to pick up the next book if they’re going to be written by Andrew child instead of Lee。

Rob

I liked it, but you can tell it was not all written by Lee Child。 Something in the narrative felt wrong。 Not necessarily bad, just wrong。 I see they are doing another book together and hope that’s not the way forward now。

Catherine

Nope。 Andrew Child has made a competent job of continuing the series but that's all。 Reacher is well done but the hallmark laconic prose and slick storyline are gone。 What you have is a workaday thriller that doesn't really deserve the 4 stars I've given it。 The plot is all over the place and I think there might be holes in it? I hate to say this but if Lee has had enough and Jack Reacher is 60, maybe write one last book and have him die in a blaze of glory? Classic Reacher, what more could you ask for? Nice combination of good story, physical and intellectual pieces of the solve, and typical Reacher dialogue。 A fun read。

Once again, Jack Reacher reins over all--calmly and cooly。 He takes on Nazis and Russians in this thriller。
